The Japanese airline is offering 50,000 domestic flight tickets to international tourists over the next summer.
According to the CNN, Japan Airlines' goal is to encourage tourists to visit the country's least-visited area and perhaps release Tokyo between July and September 2020, as the Japanese capital will host the next edition of the Olympic Games.
However, to win these free tickets, international visitors must be registered outside of Japan on the airline's frequent flyer program: Mileage Bank. In addition, they will only know your destination a few days after your application.
The carrier will recommend four destinations flying from Tokyo's Haneda Airport or Osaka's Itami and Kansai airports. Family and friends traveling together can sign up as a group of up to four people.
According to the US television station, applicants will receive the result within three days of registration. The airline will provide further information in January and registration is expected to begin in February.
The Japanese government estimates that the Olympic Games will draw more than ten million visitors to the country next year. Between 2013 and 2018, Japan was visited by 31 million tourists a year, with ten million passing through Tokyo.
