After the success of The Irishman, a film by Martin Scorsese in partnership with Netflix, the screenwriter is in the process of developing a new film: Killers of the Flower Moon, a production that already has a budget of $ 180 million. And for this release, the filmmaker will have the support of Apple, which is in final negotiations with Paramount to join the film team
The production, which will be a period police drama, is based on a book of the same name written by David Grann and portrays an investigation into the murders of natives of the Osage Nation tribe during the early 1920s in Oklahoma.
In the story, the victims became targets after getting rich by sharing in the profits made by oil deposits on their land. In a subsequent investigation, the investigations department found that there was widespread corruption among local officials, just as the agency began to transform itself into its current state as the FBI.
Apple's share in the production will be part of its funding, and in addition – and according to rumors – the film will be released as an original Apple production, while Paramount will contribute to deal with the global distribution of the film in theaters.
Planned to hit theaters in 2021, we do not have an exact release date yet, but some information has already been released, such as the participation of actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, who was also present in the last Scorsese film , The Irishman.
