Passenger of the Boeing 737-800 that crashed when landing in Istanbul on Wednesday night, Rumeysa Demirtas reported to the local press the moments of panic that followed the landing.
In an interview with Turkish news agency Anadolu, she said she carried her husband off the aircraft because he had injured his shoulder and pelvis.
Rumeysa also said that the plane was very fast during landing.
“We touched the land, and then it felt like we were taking off again. Then we hit the ground a second time, falling into a hole. It was only then that I noticed the seriousness of the situation: the plane was breaking in three, ”said Demirtas.
"I had to pull my husband off the plane, because his hip bone and shoulder were broken," she said.
The flight arrived in Istanbul from Izmir, in the Turkish Aegean region, when it skidded on the runway at Sabiha Gokcen airport.
At the time of landing, it was raining and blowing heavily over the city. Three people died among the 177 passengers and six crew.
Another passenger, Engin Demir, said the accident lasted no more than 3 seconds. “There were a lot of screams. I tried to calm the people around me. Aid came soon, ”he said.
Passenger Alper Kulu said that the flight was very turbulent due to the intense storm that was over the region.
“The plane landed with great difficulty and at a much higher speed compared to other flights. And when it was over, they started to announce that the plane could explode at any moment, ”he said.
