Regina Pessoa's short film “Uncle Tomás – The Accounting of Days” is on the list of films that continues in the Oscar race of the Hollywood Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Tiago Guedes's “A Herdade” is no longer on the candidate list for the Best Foreign Film Award.
“Uncle Tomás – The Accounting of Days” is the only one of the four Portuguese films that were competing in the Oscar nominations that managed to pass the first phase of voting in the specialty. She is nominated for Best Animated Short Film alongside "Dcera", "Hair Love", "He Can't Live Without Cosmos", "Hors Piste", "Kitbull", "Memorable", "Mind My Mind", "The Physics of Sorrow ”and“ Sister ”.
Portuguese short films “Agouro”, by Vasco Sá and David Doutel, and “Don´t Feed These Animals”, by Guilherme Afonso and Miguel Madaíl de Freitas, were on the way.
The film “A Herdade”, by Tiago Guedes, was also no longer on the candidate list for Best Foreign Film. The nominations of the final Oscar candidates are revealed on 13 January 2020.
The Oscars ceremony is scheduled for 9 February.
